About the PBY Catalina Foundation

The PBY Catalina Foundation is a registered nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation. The PBY Catalina Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and assisted by an Advisory Committee. Its primary purposes are as follows:

• To collect, restore, and operate PBY Catalina aircraft
• To educate and inform the public of the origin, usage, history and importance of PBY's
• To establis an aviation history museum with emphasis on the PBY
• To honor and support the needs of homeless veterans

The Catalina continues her service to mankind without glory or honors, knowing that she has served well and is loved by the people who knew her best. Her birth is registered at the US Patent Office as July 31, 1934 (in the name of MacLaddon, No. 92912), and to this day she flies with some militaires and private operators - at 60 years old. She never received the overwhelming glory surrounding the B-17, B-24, and various fighters, but she was at every battle from the Equator to the ice caps around the world. She was slow and clumsy and an easy target in daylight, but at night these dubious qualities became deadly assets. Many an enemy ship fell victim to the "Black Cat". But her greatest pride lies with her rescue record. While flying with the Navy, Army, and Coast Guard, the PBY Catalina has saved thousands of lives - a record unmatched by any aircraft in history.

PBY Meetings

Foundation Board and General Meetings are held regularly on the 2nd Saturday of each
month. Non-members are welcome to attend. Call 707-769-0575 for information and location
