Guardian Angel Lithograph
On December 30, 1941, at maximum range, while on patrol looking for the expected Japanese invasion fleet of Hawaii, a lone PBY-5 from VP51, piloted by Ens. Frank M. (Fuzzy) Fisler and NAP 1/C Leonard H. (Snuffy) Wagoner, spotted two life rafts containing a B-17 crew commanded by Lt. Earl J. Cooper from the U.S. Army, 18th Bombardment Wing, Hickam Field. Facing 20 knot winds, 40 foot seas, low fuel and approaching darkness, the crew of the PBY landed and successfully rescued the Army aircrew. The pilots were awarded the Navy Cross December 31, 1941 by Admiral Chester W. Nimitz at Pearl Harbor.

PBY The Catalina Flying Boat
By Roscoe Creed
PBY: THE CATALINA FLYING BOAT by Roscoe Creed has 351 pages of history about the greatest of all the flying boats. He tells the PBY story beginning with its design and production then on to its use in war and peace. This is the book that all catoholics must have.

Cats at War
By Coral Gaunt and Robert Cleworth
CATS AT WAR was compiled by Coral Gaunt and Robert Cleworth (2000). The stories within document PBY Catalina operations of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) during W.W. II (1939-1945) in the Asia-Pacific theatre. This collection of anecdotes and recollections of the RAAF Catalina squadrons expands the reader understanding of how this great aircraft was used by Allied forces in the Pacific. This book gives credit to the brave men of Australia who fought and died in defense of their home. We thank the authors for their work and Mr. Cleworth for his autograph.

BLUE CATALINAS OF WORLD WAR II
By James C. Mills
This is the history of VP44; a U.S. Navy PBY Catalina squadron. This squadron was like many of the PBY squadrons during World War II: It fought a war, lost men, and was at those places noted in the history books. PBYs were everywhere during World War II yet very little of their history is remembered. This is one of several books that brings to life the experiences of the pilots and the flight crews of the PBY Catalina.

Shobun
Shobun, A Forgotten War Crime in the Pacific By Michael J. Goodwin.
This is the story of a search by a son for information about his father. The father was a PBY pilot, shot down, captured by the Japanese, and executed. What happen to his father’s crew and why were they killed is product of the author’s search. This book and this clash of cultures is must reading to help answer that baby boomer’s question of "Daddy? What did you do during the war?"
PBY CATALINA IN ACTION
By Captain W E Scarborough
If you want to know the history and the evolution of the PBY Catalina, this book will answer you questions with clear and concise information. Pictures and diagrams gives the Catoholic a short course Catalinaisum. Prewar and war years with pictures of post war use of the PBY give the reader more then they can absorb. This book is a must for any Catoholic.
